Alissa Rhodes, 24, operator of Lonesome Lady Ranch, collects eggs from her hens Tuesday April 7, 2015. Lonesome Lady Ranch is a local family farm located in the New Harmony community just outside of Tyler. The farm raises poultry, eggs, lamb, and commercial cattle. The animals are pasture raised using rotational grazing management and fed diets free of added growth hormones, drugs, or genetically modified food used by the commercial food industry. Rhodes sells her eggs weekly at the Rose City Farmers Market held at the Juls parking lot Saturdays in Tyler. Rhodes is a recent recipient of the Texas Young Farm Grant, which provides matching funds to help new ranches take root.
